January 1st 1970

Frankie’s has opened registration for the fourth annual Charity Cycle Sportive in aid of Fishermen’s Mission funds, which will be held on 31st August.

Sponsorship forms for cyclists of all ages and abilities can be picked up at the shop in Brae or you can phone 01806 522700 for more information.

Tickets for the raffle, which will be drawn on the day of the event, are also available at Frankie’s and at Brae Garage.

Prizes include a Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, £150 in cash, £100 in cash and a food hamper.

The routes for the sponsored cycle are 40 miles (two times around a loop from Brae to Voe to Mossbank), 20 miles (once around the same loop) and 10 miles (Brae to Voe and back).

Since it began in 2011, the Charity Cycle Sportive has raised more than £10,000 for the Fishermen’s Mission.

Frankie’s manager John Gold urged people to join in and support a very worthwhile cause.

“This is a fun event and enjoyment doesn’t depend on cycling ability – it really is open to everyone,” he said.

“The money raised all goes to support the good work the Fishermen’s Mission does for folk in our fishing community.”
